Bring a true cinema experience into your own living room with the 50-inch Sony KDFE50A10 rear-projection LCD TV, which features a new design with a thin dark black bezel, a compact body and invisible speakers located at the bottom of the set. It features built-in analog (NTSC) and HDTV digital (ATSC) tuners. (Digital high-definition programming is available via terrestrial signals (over-the-air) or unscrambled cable signals provided by your cable company.) It's also Digital Cable Ready, so you can enjoy digital cable without an additional box or remote. The KDFE50A10 uses the 3LCD video projection system, which combines three LCD panels to produce an image for a brighter picture in well-lit rooms, intensly vibrant natural colors, and spectacular HD performance. It's driven by Sony's WEGA Engine System, which delivers superb picture quality from any video source by minimizing the signal deterioration caused by digital-to-analog conversion and stabilizing the signal processing. The Digital Reality Creation line doubling feature replaces the signal's NTSC waveform with the HD equivalent, while doubling the number of vertical and horizontal lines. This results in four times the density for quality sources, such as DVD, satellite and digital camcorders. The CineMotion technology feature uses reverse 3-2 pull down technology, providing smoother picture movement when playing back movies or other video sources on film. Other features include the Steady Sound audio equalizer (for consistent output between programs and commercials), parental controls (V-chip), Favorites channel list, front AV Inputs for connecting camcorders or video game consoles, and an HDMI connection for uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface between the TV and any HDMI-equipped audio/video component. It has a 24-watt stereo audio system (two 12-watt speakers) and TruSurround XT compatibility. It features the following video and audio connections: Composite AV In (RCA): 3 (1 front) S-Video In: 1 RF In: 1 Component Video In: 3 (1 front) HDMI In: 1 PC In (D-Sub 15-pin): 1 What's in the Box KDFE50A10 TV, remote control, two AA batteries, printed instructions

Previously, a 36 "Toshiba CRT. I sit on the sidelines for 3 or 4 years to wait to reduce prices, and stabilizing technology. I was sold on DLP, but the color wheel reliability and rainbow problems finally pushed me towards LCD sets ( 50 "HD plasma was out of my price range). So I eagerly awaited the arrival of Sony in the brick and mortar stores. It's the I think Sony is first, because they would not finally determined by the width of the TV is on the speaker drop. The hidden speaker design on these sets brilliant! Neither the height or width of this set is very different from the speakers, more than most places, this set of compact manner, it is outrageous. So what is the picture quality? Well, after reading a few of these sets in person, I was very disappointed. Bad Mosquito net (black lines between pixels) and a very disappointing picutre So I came across one that had a high quality HD feed, and was blown away. Very sharp and colorful (even with push red). So I pulled the trigger and took him home that day. When I got it unpacked and installed I did a channel scan and was immediately blown away by the picture quality of high definition 1080i on TNT. I watched "The Fellowship of the Ring," the evening with my jaw on the floor. I am officially dependent on HD! Standard definition is more than acceptable, though, and looks good while being upconverted DVD from 480i on component cables. I found no fixed pixels, or other errors, although I've seen a model airplane with a 3-5 block of pixels that have been blocked. It was not clear last 6-8 meters themselves. My viewing area has some seating at the sides, with the worst being about 45 degrees off center. Angle in this set is excellent, and clarity, even as far as the center is almost the same right to the long-awaited feature in this set is the Auto Iris control that throttles back the light, depending on the overall brightness of the scene shown. In theory this gives the TV to produce deeper blacks in dark scenes. Personally I do not think it's a lot to automatically improve PQ, but I love the adaptability that gives the menu. I crank the iris open during the day watching, because I have a lot of windows in my room. In the evening, I cut it back to the minimum and the black levels are much better. Hits - great picture! - Compact and lightweight - Great upconversion from 480i DVDs and standard-def TV. Misses - Sony off their excellent Twinveiw PIP for these models - Only one HDMI input - not converts all audio to the optical digital output as Mitsubishi LCD RPTVs do. I do not want this set for the game, so I can not write on this aspect Why 4 stars Comment? I think it was very cheesy of Sony to remove the PIP on a $ 2k + TV! Update: sports are broadcast in 720p absolutely incredible on this set. I took one look at NASCAR, just because the picture was so great. Update 7/12/05: I continue to be amazed by this TV. I saw it side by side with the new Sony 50 "SXRD set at Sears, and while the SXRD was probably a slightly better picture, it is not worth the price nearly 2X. Especially in your home, you will not compare the two side . I had more friends at home, the projection HD CRT, and it does not compare. I'm still selling. I blocked 2-3 pixels that showed up, "and they are all green. The only time you can see on screen is completely black (an unused input function), if you have less than 3 feet from your screen, and if you know exactly where to look. You would have to be the best person on the planet @ internal annoyed by them, 76 of 78 people found the following review useful. By HDTV big R. Stone I have satellite and a progressive.
